I was really looking to discover how people from the Pontic Steppe north of the Black Sea, red haired Haplogroup G, found their way to Ireland in 3,000-2,000BC.
The book is “The Horse, The Wheel and Language” by David W. Anthony and printed by Princeton University Press and the winner of the 2010 book award for the Society for American Archaeolgy. So it is very intensive. The first part of the book talks about reconstructing the Proto-Indo-European language and finding out where and how it originated.
It turns out that Proto-Indo-European was spoken by a Bronze age horse riding people that lived in wagon trains and roamed the Pontic Steppe with large herds of cattle. This was the Yamnaya culture of around 3,300 BC during the collapse of Old Europe.
These people believed in the God of the Sky, Mother Earth, a storm God/dess, the Wind and the Sword. The Wind was sacred because it brought life. The Sword was sacred because it took life. Because they believed in reincarnation they had no reason to believe in gods and goddesses. They did believe in the spirits of nature and decorated their armor with animals. Their women were warriors and fought alongside their men.
These nomads encountered yellow haired people from Haplogroup I who were farmers and herders that stayed in one place. These farmers and herders were Goddess worshipers, and they worshiped a Warrior Goddess similar to Astarte or Hekate. This Goddess of the Storm also gave safe passage through the storm, and this was the great Initiation of Samothrace which was founded by Amazons or Warrior women much later. The Goddess was responsible for the storms of life and safe passage through them. You needed to confront life heroically and defeat all obstacles. Die with honor!
The merging of these two cultures was the very first patron/client agreement where the nomads would provide protection to the farmers and the farmers would pay tribute to the nomads. This was the concept of “Hospitality” which became sacred to the Druids.
It is also the basis of the protection scheme that has been used ever since! The nomads became the Elite ruling class and the Druids kept them in place with their Bards (media, propaganda, entertainment); their Ovids (healers and drug companies) and their Philosophers/Magicians (priests, politicians and judges).
These concepts caught on and spread through the Usatovo culture into Gaul/France and Spain. This sowed the seeds for the Druid culture.
Meanwhile the Yamnaya culture who lived in the largest population centers of the entire world abruptly abandoned their homes without a trace. This happened around 3,000 BC. The entire Europe was in turmoil due to drastic climate change.
My guess is that they connected with the Minoans in Crete or the darker haired Neolithic Aegean Farmers/ Sea people who had arrived in France and Germany around 5,000 BC and had already arrived in Britain around 4,000 BC. The Yamnaya culture traveled by boat to Ireland taking their horses with them. They also brought the “Hospitality” concept and the true origins of the Druid Culture began there and in Britain where it became centered at Stonehenge. Horses were domesticated in Ireland well before 2,000 BC and ahead of the rest of Europe.
Ireland is the world’s most horse loving country! It has the finest horses in the world!
The “Hospitality” concept of the Druids was considered sacred but other cultures abused it until it became the protection racket that our world is based upon today!
